Child killer, Mr Whisper is back and after Jack Logan’s blood in the sixth novel of the series.
Having escaped from a high security hospital, Whisper wastes no time in killing those who helped him escape. He starts taunting Logan straight away, his desire for revenge clear. Nothing but Logan’s death will do.
Logan’s return to home turf in the Highlands brings no respite. Whisper kidnaps the young brother of one of his colleagues. It’s not long before Logan’s every move seems to be known to the killer. Someone is helping the killer, but who? And more importantly, why?
When Logan’s daughter is kidnapped, the stakes couldn’t be higher. As Whisper’s grip tightens, the story hurtles towards a breath-taking climax where the killer holds all the aces.
But would you bet against Logan?
This clash was inevitable, considering the history behind them. Being personal, the stakes go through the roof, leading to an exciting, nail-biting story that kept me reading for hours, eager to know how Logan was going to defeat this seemingly untouchable killer.
While the humour remains, it’s more muted by the overtones of the main story. Whisper is about as nasty and vile as you can get. Logan’s not noted for his patience or adherence to the rules. It all makes for an explosive story that’s easily the most enthralling novel of the series so far.
The hunter has become the hunted.
Ten years ago, DCI Jack Logan caught the twisted child killer known as Mister Whisper.
Two days ago, Mister Whisper escaped.
Now, Jack must track down the most ruthless enemy he has ever faced before he can strike again. But, after ten years behind bars, it isn’t just murder that Mister Whisper has in mind.
