A fresh approach to crime fiction

The write job

On a hot, sultry evening on 13th September around 25 members and visitors crowded into the West Rocks Hotel, Eastbourne for my presentation and book signing. My thanks to Anderida Writers for inviting me to talk and for making the whole experience such a pleasure.

I started with a conversation I’d had that afternoon with my original boss when I first became a trainee environmental health officer ‘up North’. “Aye, you were a bright lad,” he said, “but you were in the wrong job.”

39 years later, I’m finally in the right job, I told them and off we went on whistle stop tour of my
writing life and how my environmental health work influenced my first published novel.

Down to business after an enjoyable presentation

With lots of questions about writing, publishing and No Accident, the evening soon sped by, swept along with plenty of humorous environmental health anecdotes.

Many of these anecdotes, along with a more detailed report of the event, will feature in September’s issue of The Tollingdon Tribune, my monthly email newsletter.
